Recovery after hyaluronic acid filler treatment
Recovery after hyaluronic acid filler treatment is usually smooth. Immediately after treatment, there may be mild side effects such as swelling, redness, sensitivity or small bruises around the treated area. This is a normal reaction of the body and usually disappears within a few days.
Most clients can resume their daily activities almost immediately. The final result of the filler is usually visible after about 1 to 2 weeks, when the swelling has completely subsided and the hyaluronic acid has integrated optimally into the skin.
Tips for optimal recovery
To make recovery after fillers as successful as possible, the doctors at SkinDocor recommend the following:
- Avoid intense physical activity for the first 24 hours
- Touch the treated area as little as possible
- Avoid sauna, tanning bed and extreme heat for 48 hours
- Do not use make-up on the injection sites on the day of treatment
- Always follow your doctor's personal aftercare instructions

Is filler treatment painful?
The treatment is generally well tolerated. We use very thin needles or cannulas and many fillers contain a mild anaesthetic. If desired, a numbing cream can be applied beforehand to increase comfort.

Immediately after treatment, slight swelling, redness or small bruises may occur. This is a normal reaction and usually subsides within a few days. In most cases, you can quickly resume your daily activities.
What should I consider before and after treatment?
Before treatment, we recommend limiting alcohol consumption and blood-thinning drugs (if possible) to reduce bruising. After treatment, it is important not to massage the treated area, avoid intense exercise, sauna and heat for the first 24 to 48 hours and follow the doctor's aftercare instructions.
Is filler treatment safe?

Can a filler be dissolved again?
Yes, hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with a special enzyme (hyaluronidase) if necessary. This makes the treatment extra safe and flexible.
Is filler treatment possible during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
As a precaution, filler treatments are not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Safety always comes first, which is why we do not perform treatments during this period.
